BUSINESS RESUMPTION FOR FRIENDLY COMMERCE BANK

Introduction: The news media carries daily stories of disasters and emergencies that have affected the lives of people throughout the world. These events include situations like earthquakes, tornadoes, hurricanes, flooding, and warfare. The geographical areas where we live and work experience emergency situations relative to the types of hazards found in those areas. Disasters don’t just happen in faraway places. They can, do, and will happen in our own areas. This brief presentation of background material provides a description of natural and manmade hazards applicable to our part of the country. It is believed that knowledge of the nature of hazards applicable to our part of the country. It is believed that knowledge of the nature of the hazards that exist in our areas, with planning to mitigate and/or respond to those hazards, will improve our business ability to provide uninterrupted financial services to our customers in spite of large-scale emergency situations. A disaster is only a disaster if we are not prepared. • Earthquakes, which may lead to ground shaking, liquefaction (e.g., when ground water is forced to the surface during an earthquake), and surface rupture. • Rockfalls, landslides, and avalanches are normal consequences of ground shaking in mountainous regions. • Seiche (e.g., and earthquake induced wave in a lake or reservoir) • Tectonic subsidence (e.g., when the orientation of the land is changed). • Initiation of secondary disaster events (e.g., fires, water supply disruption, and spillage of hazardous materials) is a common effect of earthquakes. • Flooding and dam failure inundation, especially in the arid western United States. • Hazardous materials accidents (e.g., via a transportation accident on a major rail or highway route). • Severe thunderstorms, lightening and tornadoes. Lightening, strong winds, tornadoes, and high

precipitation are the hazards associated with thunderstorms. • Civic disorder (e.g., riots, looting, bomb threats, or terrorism).
