Role of CSBS

“The purpose for which [CSBS] is organized [include] . . . assisting state regulators in carrying out: a. The mandates of the [Dodd-Frank Act] and other federal and state statutes addressing financial regulation and consumer financial protection regulation; and b. Functions that the [SAFE Act] encourages [CSBS] to pursue . . . . In addition, [CSBS] will benefit the public by improving financial regulation, enhancing consumer protection, supporting state banking supervisors and state financial regulation, and any other lawful purpose necessary or incident thereto.”

This committee shall focus on the business and supervisory processes of the State Banking Departments. The SSPC shall make recommendations to the Board of Directors regarding examination procedures, tools and other business process initiatives that should be coordinated to promote consistency and seamless supervision between the financial services regulatory agencies, both State and Federal. The Chair of the Board of Directors shall appoint annually a chair and a minimum of seven (7) additional members, with the approval of the Board of Directors.

This committee shall provide oversight of and support for the functional committees established by nationwide cooperative agreements for non depository supervision whose members are subject to approval by the Board of Directors or where CSBS is a signatory. The Committee shall also provide a forum for discussion of interstate non-depository supervisory matters and provide advice on non depository policy development to other committees or task forces of CSBS. The committee may serve as a liaison between the Board of Directors and other state associations, as well as federal agencies, for the benefit of a coordinated system of non-depository supervision.
