IT Examiner School
Background
Assumptions
• Only one building is affected by the disaster, regardless of the type of disaster. • The disaster does not affect the copper infrastructure or underground cabling used for voice and data communications.
• The disaster will result in minimal, if any, IT personnel loss. • Internet connectivity to the bank branch will remain intact.
Scope
• All IT resources (application, databases, hardware devices, voice communications) affected by the disaster. • IT will not provide direct support of the business areas until the entire IT environment has been recovered. • IT has not developed any plans to assist business areas to manually perform business operations during the recovery without the use of IT resources. • The DRP includes recovery information for the business applications, hardware devices, and voice communication devices for each branch.
Recovery Objective
The current recovery time objective is to recover the most critical applications within 3 days, critical applications within 1 week, important applications within 2 weeks, and all other applications within 4 weeks.
Repository
The Disaster Recovery Plan will be maintained on all file servers with the documentation accessible via the Bank’s network.
Distribution
The purpose of the Distribution Policy is to ensure the Disaster Recovery Plan is distributed to the appropriate people for familiarity and accessibility in case of a disaster affecting IT facilities or services.
