Shark Tank Instructions - Template This session will consist of Shark Tank style pitches (slightly modified since we have no billionaires). We want the team to be more innovative, and this is your chance to pitch the team on some activities to put that into practice! Submitting Your Pitch: To maximize this session’s value, we will need to submit topics before the pitch day to give folks time to research the topics. This will enhance the quality of the questions and pique fellow team members’ interest. • You must submit your pitch submission [template included] by COB [date]. • The submission will include a brief description of your pitch (1-3 sentences, strictly enforced), the anticipated value, and ideas that your activity will test. • Optionally submit resources such as links for further reading so that team members can familiarize themselves with your topic Pitch Day Guidelines: • Pitches should be about 5-10 minutes in length • They should address why our team should take on this innovation activity. • You should describe how this might benefit our organization, how it solves a problem, and/or is otherwise worth exploring. • Address concrete ‘next steps’. Whether it is further research, consultation with other organizations to learn more about a challenge, vendor demos, generating a funding case etc. this is your “ask” to the team. The rest of the team will act as the “Sharks” following your pitch by asking questions to see if your idea is useful and innovative. Since we can’t offer cash in exchange for a percentage of your startup, you’ll be pitching your fellow team members to invest their time for your ‘next steps’. If you get the volunteers you need, your project can move forward. You will write up a one-pager [template included] with proposed next steps and the commitments from team members. Role of the Team:
