Thomas Fite Director Indiana Department of Financial Institutions (DFI)

Tom was named Director of the Department of Financial Institutions in 2016. As a lifelong public servant, Tom is excited to lead fulfillment of the Department’s mission. Over the past two decades, Tom has held several positions with the Department, including 15 years of field examination and regional supervision experience prior to being named the Deputy Director of the Depository Division in 2013. National efforts include participation as the state regulatory agencies’ representative on both the FFIEC Task Force on Supervision and FinCEN’s BSA Advisory Group. Tom represents state regulatory interests during FFIEC Council meetings as a member of the State Liaison Committee. Recently, Tom was named Vice Chairman of the Conference of State Bank Supervisors. Tom earned an undergraduate degree from Ball State University and a master’s degree in business administration from Indiana Wesleyan University. Tom and his wife of 19 years are raising their three children in Brownsburg, Indiana.
