Diane Standaert EVP; Director of State Policy Center for Responsible Lending
Diane directs the Center for Responsible Lending's state-level policy agenda to advance responsible lending policy and practices across all of CRL's issues. She also oversees CRLs work on issues of small dollar lending. Based in Durham, Diane works directly with stakeholders and policy makers at the state and federal levels in their efforts to understand the impact of and to prevent abusive financial practices. She brings policy expertise on issues such as payday, car title, installment lending, mortgages, foreclosure prevention, abusive debt collection, and other issues. Diane also brings experience building bipartisan coalitions of diverse stakeholders to advocate successfully for reforms of abusive lending practices. She has authored and contributed to several articles and research projects related to the impact of predatory lending practices and the role of states in addressing them. Diane's previous experience includes the Florida Housing Finance Corporation and the University of North Carolina Center for Civil Rights. She is a graduate of Florida State University and holds a JD degree from the University of North Carolina School of Law. In her spare time, Diane is very active in a wide range of community organizations.
