ACH - NACHA
The National Automated Clearing House Association (NACHA) was formed in 1974 to coordinate the ACH movement nationwide.
Direct deposit of wages was the initial focus of ACH transactions.
NACHA still develops and maintains the industry’s ACH Operating Rules.
ACH Transactions
ACH transactions can be either debit or credit payments. Common examples of ACH transactions include:
Direct Deposit of payroll, government, and Social Security benefits.
Mortgage and bill payments.
Online banking payments.
Person‐to‐person (P2P) and business‐to‐business (B2B) payments.
