Project Fortress Overview

 Project Fortress is a new effort by the U.S. Department of the Treasury to enhance security and resiliency in the financial services sector, focused on proactive defense and public-private information sharing  The goal is to provide the financial services sector with an improved understanding of the threats we face as a sector, as well as tools to help curb the willingness and capabilities of threat actors to target the sector  Treasury’s Office of Cybersecurity and Critical Infrastructure Protection (OCCIP) coordinates the use of a suite of tools, both proactive defense and offense, to help protect the U.S. financial services sector from cyber threats  Defensive measures include several information sharing and collaboration programs available to financial sector partners  Offensive measures include the use of Treasury’s national security and enforcement tools to pursue threat actors targeting the U.S. financial system
