In the future, it is likely this form of identity theft will certainly occur in the Metaverse, as it is a straightforward blending of current technologies collecting our personal information, data and biometric data which can easily develop deep-fakes, voice emulation, digital-twinning, and AI created avatars.

27.1.3 Metaverse Privacy Settings Meta (formerly known as Facebook) recently introduced the Quest Pro virtual reality (VR) headset. 626 The headset has several advanced features including five cameras facing inward, towards the user’s face. 627 Meta made has recently added new language to its privacy policy, including one titled “Eye Tracking Privacy Notice.” According to Meta, “When you choose to enable eye tracking on the headset or in a specific app, software on the Meta Quest Pro headset analyzes infrared images of your eyes (“raw image data”) to

create an estimate of where your eyes are looking in VR (“abstracted gaze data”) . This estimation is done on your device in real time as your eyes move. The raw image data is deleted from your headset after the abstracted gaze data is generated. The abstracted gaze data is continuously generated and overwritten in real time as it prov ides this feature.” 628  The headset will process raw images and pictures locally and the images are stored on the device rather than reaching Meta’s server. Meta states that "the operating system should remove the data after it is done processing it." 629  The Meta Quest Pro headset privacy policy also has separate overviews of the Fit Adjustment Privacy Notice and the Natural Facial Expressions Privacy Notice which also contain opt out instructions as well. 630 631 Apple is also planning to introduce an AR/VR headset, using iris scanning to authenticate the identity of users. This comes via open-source articles which indicated users will have their eyes scanned to verify payments and sign into various digital accounts much like people already use Face ID or Touch ID on an iPhone. 632
