BSA/AML EXAMINER SCHOOL Case Study – Monetary Instruments

You developed a sample size and management provided you with documentation related to the purchase and sale of monetary instruments. Review the documentation provided to ensure procedures are appropriate and all required information is obtained. Consider the following questions.

1) Did the institution obtain all the required information?

2) What types of monetary instruments is the bank selling? Does it appear they are selling to noncustomers?

3) How is dual control in this area? Who is selling these and who is reviewing these?

4) Does the bank have appropriate recordkeeping and procedures in this area?

5) Keep a list of any questions you have for the BSA Officer.
