2020 Journal of Community Bank Studies

2020 COMMUNITY BANK CASE STUDY COMPETITION

Acknowledgements We, the students, would like to personally thank everyone who has helped us with this case study. We could not have done it without the incredible effort from the employees at C&N as well as the faculty at Mansfield University. We would like to especially thank Dr. Atika Benaddi, our primary advisor, for all her hard work and dedication. She was always available to answer any and all questions we had and encouraged us to do the best we could. We would also like to thank Mansfield University professors Dr. Shelly Ji, Dr. Xia Zhou, and Dr. Gopalan Kutty for reviewing the case study after it was finished and participating in meetings with C&N. We would like to thank John Reber, EVP and Director of Risk Management at C&N, for providing knowledgeable insight into the processes and methods of the BSA/AML compliance program at the bank, as well as other crucial information that laid the foundation for this case study. Thank you to Michelle Rios-Dominguez, Manager of Talent Acquisition at C&N, for setting up and facilitating meetings with the bank, communicating with our faculty advisor, and making sure we had all the information we needed. We also would like to express our gratitude to Tracy Watkins, EVP and Director of Human Resources at C&N for meeting with us, giving insight on the HR side of C&N, and reviewing the study. Finally, we would like to thank the Conference of State Bank Supervisors for holding the annual Community Bank Case Study Competition. It creates an extraordinary opportunity for students across the country to interact with banks within their community. Such experiences are rare within normal students’ academic careers and provide an unforgettable learning experience that they would not otherwise be able to have.
